A few years ago, I was invited to teach photography at Boston University’s Center for Digital Imaging Arts. That’s when I first met Normand Brzycki—an engaging and motivational educator, someone you definitely want to be around.

Norm was instrumental in shaping the teaching model there. He introduced us to experiential learning—a hands-on, immersive approach that changed the way I thought about photography and teaching. During training, we watched a film that stuck with me to this day: A Class Divided, based on the “blue eyes/brown eyes” experiment. The message? What we tell children—and anyone learning—can shape how they see themselves and what they believe they can become. That insight transformed how I talk to students, children, and even adults when offering feedback or critique.

Fast forward to today: Norm visited us for a creative, comfortable headshot and branding session. I’m honored that he chose us to photograph him, and I love the way he used his new portraits! He’s still very much on the move, doing important work and sharing his wisdom through speaking, coaching, and now a new book (which I can’t wait to read). Be sure to check out his work!
